Every parent and child will recognise the colourful, short stories ‘Mr Men & Little Miss.’ They were a must-have for any child’s bookshelf!
Now, they are launching a new book series ‘Discover You’ to help children understand what it means to be happy, sad and many other emotions. Through their iconic characters, it teaches children about their emotional wellbeing and mental health as well as acting as a support tool for parents to discuss these topics.
Reading books, not only does it build comprehension and knowledge within a child, but it also develops and strengthens their emotional intelligence and wellbeing. Mental health difficulties can be complex, but these books are a great start to opening conversations with your children.
The book series has been developed with Dr. Elizabeth Kilbey, a Children’s Clinical Psychologist. She explains ‘I’ve learnt how tough it is for children to understand emotions and personality traits and how difficult it can be for parents and children to talk about these complex ideas. Even though it is tough, it is vitally important we get this right for them.’
